They announced C.M. Punk vs. Paul Heyman & Curtis Axel will be a no DQ match.
TAG TEAM TURMOIL: PRIME TIME PLAYERS VS. USOS VS. 3MB VS. REAL AMERICANS VS. BRODUS CLAY & SWEET T
IT'S A GAUNTLET STYLE
CLAY & T VS. DREW MCINTYRE & HEATH SLATER
McIntyre did a flip dive on T. T pinned McIntyre in about a minute with a schoolboy.
CLAY & T VS. ANTONIO CESARO & JACK SWAGGER
Swagger beat Clay with the patriot lock when Swagger blind tagged in.
SWAGGER & CESARO VS. USOS
Swagger grabbed Jimmy (I think) by the ankle as Jimmy jumped off the top rope and tried to jump over him and again got the Patriot lock.
SWAGGER & CESARO VS. DARREN YOUNG & TITUS O'NEIL
Young kicked Swagger off him when he had the Patriot lock on, and then Young pinned him after a Gut buster. All the matches were rush jobs. Everyone tried to do big high spots to get noticed although the first match was some kind of awful.
HHH did a babyface promo saying that nobody is going to interfere in Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton, no Shield, no Big Show, nobody.
Paul Heyman showed up. Heyman said he had a desperate need to speak with him but HHH wasn't returned his calls. He said he had a real serious problem with what HHH thinks is best for business. HHH made fun of Heyman looking like he's never slept, said he's never showered. Heyman was kissing his ass and saying HHH made a mistake putting a middle-aged father of two in a handicap match against a fighter, who was marketed as the best in the world, who nearly beat the Undertaker, who gave Brock Lesnar all he could handle. He said how C.M. Punk wants to give him such a beating that he'll never be seen in WWE again. Heyman begged him to do what's best for business by canceling the handicap match. HHH teased by saying he's made some good points. HHH just said if you believe in Curtis Axel, just don't tag in and if you believe in Curtis Axel you shouldn't be worried. Heyman was almost in tears saying there's no more honor among thieves. Axel said on May 20th in Kansas City on Raw I beat you in a match. HHH made fun of him for remembering the date. HHH said don't poke the bear. HHH said how it's Night of Champions. He said he was adding an IC title match against the first guy he sees backstage. So Axel is working twice. This was like the opening of Raw. Paul Heyman then said the match is under protest by Axel.
CURTIS AXEL VS. KOFI KINGSTON FOR IC TITLE
A good match, generally well wrestled. The crowd kind of died out at the end although a big pop for when Kingston got a near fall witht he SOS. The finish saw Axel drop Kingston's throat on the top rope and then he did a neckbreaker into an implant DDT to retain the title.
They just announced Chris Jericho was the winner of a poll for greatest IC champion with 63% to 24% for Mr. Perfect, 10% for Honky Tonk Man and pretty much nothing for Pat Patterson and Rick Rude.
Ricardo Rodriguez has his arm in a sling teaching RVD spanish.
A.J. Lee backstage with Layla, Aksana and Alicia Fox. Aksana has a new look. Aksana and Fox walked out on her, and then Layla walked out on her as well.
Greatest women's champion poll won by Trish Stratus with 56% over Moolah, Lita, Michelle McCool and Wendi Richter. Nobody voted for Richter.
A.J. LEE VS. BRIE BELLA VS. NATALYA VS. NAOMI FOR DIVAS TITLE
A.J. retained with the Black widow (octopus) on Natalya after Natalya had put a double sharpshooter on Brie Bella and Naomi. Not much to this.
ALBERTO DEL RIO VS. ROB VAN DAM FOR THE WORLD TITLE
Del Rio retained with a terrible finish. He got the armbar on and RVD got to the ropes. Del Rio wouldn't break the hold on the ropes for the DQ. Post-match saw Del Rio come in with a chair but Ricardo Rodriguez (arm in a sling) took the chair away and RVD gave him a DDT. RVD did the Van Terminator coast to coast with Rodriguez holding the chair in front of Del Rio's face. The doctors came out for Del Rio after the Van Terminator. Not sure if that was a work or not. We'll try and get word from the arena. Match was sloppy in spots but Del Rio was pretty aggressive.
Paul Heyman said to Axel that if you lose and if Punk gets to me you're on your own. He said "I won't be here tomorrow if I'm left alone with C.M. Punk."
Greatest world champion of all-time. Booker T 38%, Edge 22% Undertaker 21%, Flair 14% and Batista 5%
HHH backstage with Randy Orton. Orton mad that they banned The Shield from ringside. HHH said I wanted to make sure I picked the right guy when I chose you as the face of the company. Orton said, "You did."
FANDANGO VS. THE MIZ
Miz won with a figure four leglock clean in the middle after working on the leg. Fandango missed the legdrop off the top just before the finish. Crowd wasn't into this match.
This usually doesn't bother me but there are too many commercials during this PPV
C.M. PUNK VS. CURTIS AXEL & PAUL HEYMAN IN A HANDICAP NO DQ MATCH
It started with Punk beating Axel with the GTS and Anaconda Vise submission. The match was a lot of kendo stick shots. Decent, not great. This left Punk vs. Heyman. Punk chased him around. Finally Punk handcuffed Heyman's hands behind his back and began nailing him in the ankle, groin, stomach and back with kendo stick shots. He said he was going to break his heat with the kendo stick when Ryback was the mystery new Heyman guy who speared Punk through the table. The table broke badly and Punk's back was slashed up. Ryback picked Heyman up and put him on top of Punk so Heyman pinned Punk. Ryback then carried Heyman to the back.
The odds strike again on this one.
Three matches left with an hour left.
DEAN AMBROSE VS. DOLPH ZIGGLER FOR THE U.S. TITLE
Well wrestled match but this late in the card nobody really cared. Ziggler missed a charge into the corner and Ambrose won clean with the headlock DDT.
Greatest U.S. champion of all-time. Sting 53%, Steamboat 24%, Slaughter 12%, Race 9%, Bobo Brazil 2%
SETH ROLLINS & ROMAN REIGNS VS. TITUS O'NEIL & DARREN YOUNG
Finish saw Reigns give O'Neil the spear and Rollins got the pin. There was a good near fall as O'Neil used the Clash of the Titus on Rollins and Reigns saved. Better match than you'd think. O'Neil looked good throwing people around.
Greatest tag team of all-time, DX 47%, LOD 32%, Hart Foundation 17%, Bulldogs 3%, Samoans 1%
Greatest WWE champion of all-time: Hogan 55%, Austin 16%, Cena 13%, Punk 12%, HHH 4% Somebody probably isn't happy with that.
RANDY ORTON VS. DANIEL BRYAN FOR THE WWE TITLE IN A NO INTERFERENCE MATCH
Bryan won the title with the Busaiku knee (same as with Cena) and ref Scott Armstrong gave Orton a super fast count. The announcers never called it like it was a fast count. We'll see how or if they play it tomorrow. They had a a very good match, easily the best thing on the show. They went off the air without anything happening, so I have a feeling this may be played up tomorrow as part of HHH's master plan. It would be a good cliffhanger except they didn't play up the finish as anything wrong. The crowd didn't believe it was the finish right away because it was kind of sudden, but they were chanting "Yes" loud in unison when it was over.
