PRO WRESTLING NEWS:
---Former WWE Superstar Gene Snitsky has been added to the cast of the new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers web series, which is a fan-based version of the show that was funded via Kickstarter. Snitsky’s exact role on the show is still unknown, however it is expected that he will play a villian of some sort.
--- Continuing to blur the lines of fact and faction, WWE star Dolph Ziggler talked about waiting for his "main event opportunity" in an interview with MLive.com promoting the Night of Champions PPV in Detroit next week.Ziggler also referenced "other companies" and UFC in his comments: "I'm always trying to find out why people cheer at certain times. I love this, I love doing this. I have no desire to switch companies or go to UFC or anything like that."Ziggler then played up the storyline of Randy Orton being handed the top spot on WWE TV: "I'm very outspoken about where I should be and where I need to be in the WWE. I love that I've never been one handed anything - ever. If I would've have been handed things, I don't know if I would've been able to enjoy it as much. Every time I turn a corner, it seems like the rug is being taken underneath me. It's like 'Hey, great job!' and then nothing. It's like 'Hey, wow, look what you can do!' and I'll say 'Thanks, boss!' and then there's nothing. And so, it's hard (to stay upbeat), but you have to deal with it and it makes me hungrier every single day knowing that I've scratched and clawed for everything I've earned in this business."
---As noted, AJ Styles has signed a three-month contract extension with TNA. AJ's original contract with TNA called for raises each year. The new contract they were trying to get him to sign called for no raises and locked him in at his current salary. TNA did not give him a contract cutting his money. Both sides essentially agreed to at least work together until the end of this year, then they will see how or if the landscape has changed.
--- Internally, there all kinds of questions being asked about the state of TNA. The situation is described as feeling similar to the end of the original ECW. A lot of people are still behind on pay, or at least were as of the last set of Impact tapings, particularly on the production side. Those issues, combined with Dixie Carter skipping the tapings to attend a college football game, led to all kinds of questions being asked about their future.
---Sam Roberts has his recent interview with Vickie Guerrero and in it, she notes that her oldest daughter will be heading to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando soon. This could mean that Shaul Guerrero, who left WWE in September of 2012, is returning to the company. On September 3rd, Shaul tweeted that she would be moving to Orlando in 7 days.
---Independent stars Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards were said to be the standouts at the WWE tryout camp that ran from August 28th until August 30th at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando. Other wrestlers at the camp included Joey Ryan, Tony DelFonzo, Sean Burke and Todd Hanson. There were 30 athletes in all, mostly independent wrestlers and a few others that had been recruited in. Overall, the attitudes of most and the work ethic were said to be good. Reports are that Edwards was the most impressive, at least during the first day. The impression is that Richards and Edwards have a very good shot at being signed by WWE but that's not official and probably wouldn't happen for a few months. The guys that worked this camp, if any do get signed, they likely won't report to work until January, and that's if they can pass all medical tests. Those judging the talents included Norman Smiley, Joey Mercury, Terry Taylor, William Regal, Gerald Brisco and Jim Ross. The camp was ran by Bill DeMott.
---Dwayne Johnson is in negotiations to star in a feature film version of the TV show "The Fall Guy" for Hyde Park and the WWe producing. Ashok Amritraj is producing for Hyde Park along with Walter Parkes, Laurie MacDonald and WWE's Michael Luis. Hyde Park and WWE are also co-financing. ---Another WWE celebrity Hall of Famer, Pete Rose, is back in the news as he's dealing with yet another tax lien from the IRS. That made TMZ.com a few days back.
---Great Muta noted in media interviews in Japan that TNA would not be part of the debut event for his new Wrestle-1 promotion. He didn't go into further details.Muta came to the United States a few weeks ago and met with Jeff Jarrett about the possibility of the two companies working together to share talent. It isn't happening, at least not yet, publicly.
