variety.com/2014/tv/news/casey-kasem-body-missing-1201265156/Late radio host Casey Kasem’s body is missing from the mortuary. Kasem, the resonant voice of Top 40 radio, died on June 15 at the age of 82. He was taken to a mortuary and remained there unburied for 30 days. When his oldest daughter Kerri Kasem’s lawyer went to the Washington state funeral home earlier this week, he was told the body was no longer there, Kerri’s rep confirmed to Variety. Kerri suspects that Kasem’s wife of 34 years, Jean Kasem, had the body removed and transported. A judge granted Kerri a temporary restraining order on Wednesday preventing Jean from cremating Kasem’s body. However, Jean had already filed a death certificate indicating that the body would be transferred to a Montreal funeral home. Tim Grant, Gaffney Funeral Home & Cremation Services’ funeral director, confirmed to the Associated Press that the body was no longer there. Kasem’s death last month followed a long-running family feud that played out in the media between his wife and his three children from a previous marriage. Kasem, the voice of Shaggy on “Scooby-Doo,” went missing in May and was eventually found in Washington at a friend’s home. Kerri was granted expanded powers to manage her father’s health. He suffered from Lewy body disease, a common form of progressive dementia. A judge ordered Jean to ensure that Kasem’s remains were preserved and that his body stayed at the Tacoma funeral home until the court decided on the autopsy petition following a July 25 hearing.
