WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat has reportedly been let go from the company due to budget cuts. Steamboat had worked as a coach in NXT and apparently was working at the WWE offices in Talent Relations under Triple H recently.
Steamboat will be doing several conventions and non-WWE interview DVD's in the coming months, which is usually a sign that you're no longer under contract to the company. Steamboat was doing promotional work for WWE in Malaysia this past May.

We noted earlier this week that as of last week's WWE TV tapings, Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat had been let go from the company due to budget cuts.
Something changed some time over the past 48 hours, perhaps WWE changing their mind. Steamboat has reached out to several non-WWE promoters to inform them that he can't do the appearances he had booked with them and if they still wanted him to appear, they would have to contact WWE and get approval.
Word now is that Steamboat is with the company.

In an update on Ricky Steamboat's WWE status, he's no longer working for WWE full-time and wasn't cut but is just working under a Legends contract, which is usually $10,000 per year. Steamboat's regular job as a brand ambassador was indeed eliminated.
