The Amazing Spider-Man #224
A Retro Review
Published By Marvel Comics 1981 for $.60
Writer-Roger Stern Art - John Romita JR and Pablo Marcos
This story is a hoot. Spider-Man foils a bank robbery and is happy he got pictures to sell to the Daily Bugle. As Peter Parker is developing the film in the darkroom, J. Jonah Jameson and Lance Bannon barge in ruining the film. Peter is pissed and he goes to meet Aunt May and her boyfriend for lunch. Aunt May's boyfriend, Nate Lubensky, is in physical therepy for his legs. He meets a new patient, who turns out to be the Vulture. The Vulture is there to heel some broken bones before he goes off to prison. He makes fast friends with Nate and then Nate invites him to come to a poker game at the nursing home. The Vulture rigs up a set of makeshift wings and escapes the hospital. When Peter goes to meet Aunt May and Nate for lunch, the Vulture is there. Peter recognizes him and the Vulture picks up on it. He hits Peter over the head and when he goes into another room, Spider-Man appears and chases him off.The Vulture gets away and Peter shows up to console Aunt May and company when they figure out who they reallly had at the poker table. This is corny , but entertaining.
