www.deadline.com/2014/06/roger-spottiswoode-hyperbaric-narco-sub/Tomorrow Never Dies helmer Roger Spottiswoode (Turner & Hooch, Air America, The 6th Day) is heading back into thriller territory. He’s set to direct Hyperbaric, a psychological suspense film set aboard a crudely-built “narco-submarine” carrying a fortune in cocaine, in which four strangers with their own secrets must work together as the Coast Guard follows in hot pursuit. It’s a prime time to capitalize on the topic of these submersible watercrafts which cartels notoriously use to move narcotics in the South American drug trade. Hyperbaric no doubt aims to draft off buzz from Fox’s Narco Sub, which Antoine Fuqua is now attached to direct. Rick Benattar and Matador Pictures’ Nigel Thomas are producing the project which originated as a spec script by Dominic Morgan and Matt Harvey. It’s the third spec by the writing duo to be optioned within the last year after The Bridge, in development at Paradox with Simon West attached to direct, and The Controller, which has James McTeigue attached to direct for The Solution Entertainment and Winkler Films. Spottiswoode most recently helmed polar bear family adventure Midnight Sun and is repped by APA. Morgan and Harvey are repped by Brooklyn Weaver.
