variety.com/2014/film/news/alexandra-milchan-on-board-cambodian-spy-thriller-supernotes-1201221347/Alexandra Milchan has acquired movie rights to “Supernotes,” the story of an Italian CIA-trained intelligence office who escaped from Cambodian prison in 2008. Milchan, an exec producer on “The Wolf of Wall Street,” will produce through her Emjag Productions. The book, a bestseller in Italy, is written by Agent Kasper (the alias of the operative) and Italian novelist Luigi Carletti. Kasper was captured in Cambodia while on a mission to investigate counterfeit money schemes in North Korea and spent over a year in captivity in a concentration camp near Phnom Penh. Milchan and Tobey Maguire acquired film rights earlier this year on serial-killer drama “The Red Mohawk.” She is also producing the upcoming John Belushi biopic, starring Emile Hirsch. The deal for the film right on “Supernotes” was closed by Alan Nevins at Renaissance Literary & Talent on behalf of Vicki Satlow. He also closed the U.S. rights publishing deal for the book to Doubleday, which plans to release a translated edition in the fall of 2015.The news was first reported by Publishers Weekly.
