Customs officers seized a 40-foot container last Tuesday, and found 159 cartons and nine sacks containing an assortment of toys, water bottles, bags and accessories featuring popular superhero and comic characters such as Batman, Captain America, Spider-Man, Superman, Transformers, Barney, Care Bears and Hello Kitty, the agency said in a statement. Enforcement officers found more trademark-infringing goods when they searched the importer’s office at Playfair Road in MacPherson. Police arrested a man and a woman for possession of goods with falsely-applied trademarks for the purpose of trade. Investigations are ongoing, the statement said.
