The acquisition of “Belle and Sebastian” illustrates Film Movement’s aim to broaden its distribution slate with indie family entertainment movies. Pic has proven a hit in France, grossing over $23 million, and also scored more than $10 million in Italy. Film Movement recently launched a genre label, RAM Releasing, and tapped former Entertainment One U.S. prexy Michael Rosenberg as co-president in March. Deal was negotiated by Film Movement’s co-president Adley Gartenstein and Yohann Comte, Gaumont’s deputy head of sales.
