www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/syfy-orders-third-sharknado-700184In a move that should surprise absolutely no one, Syfy is already prepping a third Sharknado. The kitschy telepic, which took Twitter by storm in 2014, recently filmed a sequel in New York and will bow on the network on July 30. Such is the confidence in Sharknado: The Second One, the follow-up is being eyed for summer 2015. First reported by AdWeek, the third installment has yet to be titled or line up a cast -- though original actors Tara Reid and Ian Ziering both appear in the sequel. They'll be joined by Vivica A. Fox, Andy Dick and Mark McGrath, among many others. Syfy president Dave Howe, who has been picking up a slew of original series in the network's play to get back to its roots, told The Hollywood Reporter in March that while he did plan to scale back on B-movies, he did envision Sharknado as something of an annual event. The original certainly warranted the confidence. Becoming a hit on a social media, and a modest success in its premiere ratings, Sharknado went on to grow in subsequent encores -- and grossed a more than 8 million viewers in the first few showings. It also got a small theatrical release, with several hundred theaters hosting midnight screenings just a month after its TV premiere.
