variety.com/2014/tv/news/original-cast-member-paul-guilfoyle-to-exit-csi-1201145446/Paul Guilfoyle, one of only two actors who has been with CBS’ “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” as a regular since its start, will depart the drama this season. Guilfoyle has played series regular Captain Jim Brass in all 14 seasons of the crime series and will make his final appearance during the season finale on May 7. He reportedly found out last week that he would not be returning to the series. “Paul made Captain Brass a standout character,” said “CSI” exec producers Carol Mendelsohn and Don McGill. “He is not just an original cast member, he is an original. In a show about forensics, fans always looked forward to the handcuffs coming out, and Captain Brass putting his spin on the crime of the week, just as Paul Guilfoyle put his indelible stamp on the character and the show. He will be missed.” The actor joins other stars who have previously left the show, including William Petersen and Gary Dourdan, who departed after season nine, and Marg Helgenberger, who exited after season 12. In 2004, both Jorja Fox and George Eads (who’s also been with the show since the beginning) were briefly fired after a salary dispute with the network and CBS TV studios. ‘CSI’ was renewed earlier this month for a 15th season.
