WACO (March 5, 2014) This weekend the event bringing comic books and pop culture to life, known as Comic-Con is coming to Central Texas thanks to Aaron Foster.
"It's just our love of Comic-Con our love of comics and were all around nerds," said Foster, Heart of Texas Comic-Con Creator.
Brent Bankston says this event will give people a unique experience.
"Visit and see people who they never had the opportunity to visit or see, get autographs signatures, artists different places like that, Waco never really had that central hub of activity, so now we do," said Heart of Texas Comic-Con Sponsor, Brent Bankston.
People attending the event already knew which celebrity they wanted meet first.
"The guy who played in the "Pirates of The Caribbean", Gibbs that's really the main guy I want to see," said Kodiak Johnson, who plans on attending the event.
"I want to see the Power Rangers, because that was a huge part of my childhood," said Cheyenne Beyer, who also plans on attending.
Dressing up is a big part of the event where people can be whoever they want. The event will also host over 50 vendors selling action figures, comic books and other accessories you cant find everywhere.
"We are going to have a lot of prints made by artists that are going to be exclusive to our Comic-Con," said Foster.
There will be a costume contest, video-game tournament and more.
"An old British tank that's been converted into a zombie apocalypse tank, which we will be giving rides out to people," said Foster.
Starting this event was never about profit, it was always about bringing the experience to Central Texas.
"Actually when we started doing it we pretty much told ourselves, okay either were going to be successful or were going to go bankrupt," said foster.
Luckily, foster says he has sold a lot of tickets.
The event is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Extraco Events Center.
