From: www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/oldest-surviving-superman-art-sells-682474The oldest known surviving original Superman cover art brought $286,800 at a sale conducted by Heritage Auctions. Dated August 1939, the cover to Action Comics No. 15 features Superman underwater rescuing a disabled submarine. It was drawn Fred Guardineer, who illustrated many of DC's earliest covers. ">The book is considered by many to be among the one hundred most significant Golden Age comics. The price, while strong, isn't the highest for original comic art. For American art, that record belongs to the Todd McFarlane-drawn cover to Amazing Spider-Man No. 328 which sold for $657,250 in 2012. The world record belongs to the cover art to 1932's Tintin in America by Belgian artist Herge, which fetched $1.6 million in 2012. s1360.photobucket.com/user/comiccollectorsguide1/media/lf_zpse122dd5b.jpeg.html
