In a deal unveiled at Sundance, Radius-TWC has acquired North American rights to the upcoming action thriller “The Night Comes for Us,” reuniting the stars and creative team of “The Raid: Redemption.”
Timo Tjahjanto will direct and Gareth Evans will produce and handle action direction. The film will reunite “The Raid” stars with Iko Uwais providing the action choreography and Joe Taslim and Yayan Ruhian starring in the lead roles.
Producers include Maya Barack Evans of PT Merantau Films and XYZ Films’ Nate Bolotin, Aram Tertzakian, Nick Spicer and Todd Brown.
Taslim portrays a mobster who returns to his local crime family in Jakarta only to find himself trapped in a word of betrayal and chaos. Radius is planning a 2015 release.
XYZ executive produced and handled international sales on the hit action film on “The Raid.” It also produced and is handling international sales on “The Raid 2,” which is premiering at Sundance.
“The Raid: Redemption,” which had a $1 million budget, grossed $4.5 million in the U.S. with Sony Classics handling as part of a $15 million worldwide cume. “The Raid 2″ opens in the U.S. on March 28 through Sony Classics.
