Jon Hamm-Rosamund Pike Political Thriller 'High Wire Act' Nabbed by Bleecker Street
Brad Anderson ('The Machinist') directed the Beirut-set period film from a screenplay by Tony Gilroy.
Bleecker Street has acquired U.S. distribution rights to director Brad Anderson's political thriller High Wire Act.
Jon Hamm and Rosamund Pike head up the cast of the film, written by Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton, The Bourne Legacy).
The story centers on a top U.S. diplomat (Hamm) who leaves Lebanon in the 1970s after his wife is killed. Ten years later, he gets called back to a war-torn Beirut by CIA operatives (Pike, Dean Norris) with a mission only he can accomplish. The film also stars Mark Pellegrino, Larry Pine, Shea Whigham, Alon Moni Aboutboul, Idir Chender and Jonny Coyne.
High Wire Act was produced by Mike Weber of Radar Pictures, Gilroy and ShivHans Pictures' Shivani Rawat and Monica Levinson. Radar's Ted Field and Steve Saeta executive produced.
"Brad's film is the kind of adult thriller a smarthouse audience craves," Bleecker Street CEO Andrew Karpen said Thursday in a statement. "It's tense, personal and well-crafted right through its final heart-pounding moments."
Added Rawat: "It is wonderful to be working with Andrew and his team again. Bleecker Street is the perfect house for this film, and we are so thrilled to continue our relationship with them."
Bleecker Street previously collaborated with ShivHans Pictures on the release of the Academy Award-nominated films Captain Fantastic and Trumbo and the Golden Globe-nominated Danny Collins. The New York-based distributor has made a series of splashy acquisitions over the past year, including Steven Soderbergh's Logan Lucky, which opens Aug. 18.
Anderson's credits include the Christian Bale starrer The Machinist.
The High Wire Act deal was negotiated by Bleecker Street's Avy Eschenasy, while WME Global and CAA repped the filmmakers.
