Jones was a well-known Atlanta radio disc jockey who started as the ring announcer on independent shows in the Georgia area promoted by Jody Hamilton and later did WCW tapings in the area. Jones had a storied career as a country music disc jockey, and was inducted into the Country Music Disc Jockey Hall of Fame in 2011 and is also a member of the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame. He was well known locally for charity events including the Rhubarb Jones Celebrity Golf Tournament for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and was a local co-host for years of the Jerry Lewis MDA telethon on Ch. 5 in Atlanta. At one point he was the longest running morning radio personality in the Atlanta market. He also had some small parts in several movies including "Major League: Back to the Minors" and "Remember the Titans."
