www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/rogue-one-star-wars-i-940192'Star Wars: Catalyst' shows that Jyn Erso and Orson Krennic met a long time ago. When Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) agrees to join the Rebellion and steal the Death Star plans in December's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, it'll mean facing up to her past — and not just her father's involvement, as an excerpt from prequel novel Star Wars: Catalyst — A Rogue One Story reveals. The excerpt, which ran in USA Today, reveals that Erso's father Galen (Mads Mikkelsen) and his family were rescued from captivity by Imperial officer Orson Krennic when Jyn was just a baby — and that the relationship between Krennic, played in Rogue One by Ben Mendelsohn, and the elder Erso is particularly warm. The sequence even includes Krennic seeing Jyn for the first time. "She looks just like you!" he exclaims, happily. Catalyst, written by James Lucerno, tells the story of the connection between Krennic and Galen Erso, and how the two of them came together to create the Death Star fans know and love. "It’s hard to wrap your head around this weapon that’s so powerful. But this is the idea of understanding who were some of its architects and what were they thinking?" Pablo Hidalgo of the Lucasfilm Story Group told the paper. "We jokingly refer to it as like Mozart and Salieri or even Jobs and Wozniak. It’s these opposites that come together." Star Wars: Catalyst will be in stores Nov. 15, ahead of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's Dec. 16 arrival in theaters.
