ITV Dives Into ‘Loch Ness’: Serial Killer Drama To Star Laura Fraser
ITV is headed to Scotland for a new six-part serial killer drama Loch Ness. Written by Fortitude’s Stephen Brady and exec produced by Tim Haines (Beowulf), Loch Ness centers on a community nourished and sustained by myth, and bordered by untamed nature. There, the search for a serial killer becomes a matter of life and death for local detective Annie Cathro who is trying to cope with her first murder case. Filming is under way in the Highlands. ITV Studios is producing.
Laura Fraser (Breaking Bad, The Missing), Siobhan Finneran (Happy Valley, Downton Abbey) and John Sessions (Florence Foster Jenkins) star alongside Don Gilet, Gray O’Brien and William Ash.
In what sounds like a nod to ITV’s own Broadchurch, the proceedings kick off when the body of a local man is found at the foot of Carn Mohr Mountain and an isolated human heart on the loch shore. The town’s normality is shattered as several local characters come under suspicion with the murderer lurking in their midst terrifying and rocking the village to its core. The central story revolves around Annie and her family whose stability is undermined as tensions stemming from the investigation threaten to disrupt and destroy their lives together.
Alan J (Willy) Wands (Jonathan Strange And Mr Norrell) will produce Loch Ness with Downton Abbey’s Brian Kelly as lead director. Cilla Ware will also direct. ITV Studios Global Entertainment is handling international distribution.
