“300″ producer Mark Canton has snagged movie and TV rights to the Christian Cantrell’s sci-fi thriller “Kingmaker.”
Canton will produce through his Atmosphere Entertainment. Atmosphere’s David Hopwood will oversee the project.
Set in the near future with the world on the brink of global corporate dominance, “Kingmaker” centers on a disillusioned Russian operative as he smuggles himself into the United States and assembles a unique army with the goal of correcting the course of human history.
“’Kingmaker’ with its intriguing, futuristic political theme is the type of high-energy, high concept material that readily lends itself to becoming a successful filmed entertainment property,” said Canton.
Canton is a producer on Warner’s upcoming sequel “300: Rise of an Empire” and the Starz series “Power,” currently shooting in New York City.
Cantrell’s first sci-fi novel, “Containment,” was originally self-published and re-published in 2012 by 47 North. He’s currently working on a sequel to “Containment.”
