www.bleedingcool.com/2016/04/04/will-the-spider-man-solo-film-be-a-homecoming/Will The Spider-Man Solo Film Title Indicate A Homecoming? Posted April 4, 2016 by Erik Amaya According to the BBC (via Empire), Sony has registered the domain name SpiderManHomecomingTheMovie.com, suggesting a possible title for the upcoming Spider-Man solo film set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course, domain registration is an imprecise tool for learning film information, as companies gobble up anything that might end up in the final film. But on occasion, it can also confirm elements like character names and even sometimes the final film title. As the BBC reports, “Homecoming” was the title of a 1980s Spider-Man story featuring appearances by Captain America and Iron Man and may indicate one or both may end up appearing in the Spider-Man film. Tom Holland will play Peter Parker, following his introduction in May’s Captain America: Civil War with Zendaya cast in as-of-yet unconfirmed role of Michelle and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May. The currently untitled film is scheduled for release on July 7th, 2017.

variety.com/2016/film/news/spiderman-title-1201752204/ ‘Spider-Man’ Movie Gets Official Title The friendly neighborhood Spider-Man’s next adventure has an official title. “Spider-Man: Homecoming” will swing into theaters next summer, Sony Pictures announced at CinemaCon, the annual exhibition trade show taking place this week in Las Vegas. To make the big reveal, the studio flew in Tom Holland, the English actor who is slipping into the wall-crawler’s spandex, fresh from the Hollywood red carpet of “Captain America: Civil War.” “I’m Tom Holland and I’m your new Spider-Man,” said Holland, who promised that the new film would find the superhero and his alter ego Peter Parker searching for his identity. “I hope it takes about three movies,” quipped Sony Pictures chief Tom Rothman. “Homecoming” will focus on Parker’s struggles to balance his high school life with his vigilantism. Rothman described it as the conflict between “saving the world and getting your algebra homework done at the same time.” Sony also unveiled the film’s new logo. It features a jaunty font, with the second “o” in homecoming replaced with an image of Spider-Man’s mask. The film is a partnership between Sony and Disney’s Marvel Studios, with Kevin Feige, the creative force between the comic book company’s big screen blockbusters, serving as a producer. As part of the deal, Holland’s Spider-Man will show up in future Avengers movies. The alliance led to one unorthodox moment. Sony closed out its presentation to theater owners by showing a scene of Holland talking to Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man in “Captain America: Civil War.” Normally that would seem like a great way to gin up excitement for a new Spidey film, save for one small fact. That film isn’t made by Sony. It’s a Disney extravaganza.
