deadline.com/2016/01/morris-from-america-a24-sundance-1201689609/A24 Acquires ‘Morris From America’ – Sundance A24 has gotten on the board here at Sundance, acquiring U.S. rights to Morris From America, the Chad Hartigan-directed film about a 13 year old hip hop loving American boy who moves to Germany with his father. A24 is putting this through its arrangement with DirecTV, in a deal that is just north of seven figures, I hear. The young title character adapts to a strange land by falling in love with a local girl, befriending his German tutor-turned-confidante, all while navigating the trials and tribulations of adolescence. Craig Robinson stars, along with Carla Juri, Lina Keller, Markees Christmas, Jakub Gierszal, Levin Henning, Patrick Güldenberg, and Eva Löbau. Martin Heisler, Sara Murphy, Adele Romanski and Gabriele Simon produce. The film premiered in the U.S. Dramatic Competition on Friday at the Eccles. It received a warm response. UTA brokered the sale. A24, coming in with seven nominations for its films Room and the Amy Winehouse docu Amy, was expected to make some noise here.
