variety.com/2016/tv/news/tnt-titans-dc-comics-series-dead-cancelled-1201674366/TNT has opted not to move forward with “Titans,” the one-hour live-action drama that would have been based on younger characters in the WB-owned DC Comics universe. TNT president Kevin Reilly announced the news at the network’s Television Critics Association press day in Pasadena, Calif. He did not voluntary bring up the topic, but did confirm the project had been scraped when asked by a reporter of “Titans'” status. “We just decided it wasn’t quite where we wanted to go,” Reilly said, not offering any more details on the decision to pull the plug. Development plans for “Titans” was announced in 2014 at the height of the comic adaptation craze, which is still very much alive. TNT’s take on “Titans” would have focused on Dick Grayson, the character known as Batman’s apprentice Robin who grew into Nightwing, the leader of a fearless band of heroes. Akiva Goldsman (“Batman Forever”) and Marc Haimes (“The Last Word”) were attached to write and exec producer and co-exec producer, respectively, with Warner Horizon Television producing. The project is not to be confused with animated series “Teen Titans Go!,” which began airing in 2013 on Cartoon Network. Also at TCA, Reilly confirmed the end of another fan-favorite series: “Rizzoli & Isles” will end after its upcoming seventh season, which airs this summer.
