The elevated horror film, which will hit theaters in 2016, the directorial debut for writer-director Osgood Perkins, who is better known for his acting, including roles in Legally Blonde and Psycho II. Perkins, the son of Psycho actor Anthony Perkins, co-wrote the screenplay for The Girl in the Photographs, which is also screening at the festival.
February had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on Saturday, Sept 12. THR's review said: "Evoking some unholy cross between the satanic classic Rosemary's Baby and Lucile Hadzihalilovic's uncannily eerie Innocence, with an inky dash of Lost Highway, actor-turned-writer-director Osgood Perkins' horror story February represents a remarkable debut."
The film was produced by Unbroken Pictures, Zed Filmworks and Go Insane Pictures. February is represented domestically by CAA and UTA, and internationally by Highland Film Group.
A24 has already scooped up How to Talk to Girls at Parties at the festival, and its film Room starring Brie Larson screened on Tuesday to a very warm reception.
