WWE house show results
December 7 , 2013
Sacramento, Calif. at Sleep Train Arena
Attendance was about 3,000-4,000 people. The entire top section was blocked off all and there were a lot of empty seats in the lower bowl. Most of the people there were families who were there to see John Cena. It was my first time sitting front row, which made the show a lot more enjoyable.
Before the show started, Justin Roberts said we could decide if the Funkadactlys, Alicia Fox, and Aksana would compete in a dance-off or a tag team match.
(1) The Usos beat The Real Americans via pinfall. An all right opening match. The Usos got a good reaction, but I thought it would have been better given they are from San Francisco. An Uso pinned Jack Swagger for the victory and did a little dance for the crowd.
(2) Alexander Rusev beat Zack Ryder via pinfall. No one knew who Rusev was including me. He cut an in-ring promo in a different language and he got the "what?" treatment. He said about three lines and then he said his name in English. Rusev started off strong and then Ryder got a couple hope spots in. Rusev wasn't anything special - he's like Big E. - he's a short powerhouse but he isn't as muscular.
Justin Roberts announced that the Divas will compete in a tag team match.
(3) The Funkadactyls beat Alicia Fox & Aksana via pinfall.
This match was not very PG especially when there were so many kids there. The Divas seemed more focused on spanking each other than they were to win the match. Both of the Funckadactyls did some impressive moves, including hurricanranas, and no horrible botches. Naomi pinned Alicia Fox with the rear view to end an average Divas match.
(4) Kofi Kingston fought The Miz to a no contest. The crowd was cheering for both Kofi and Miz, but it was probably 70-30 Kofi. Miz was hot-dogging with the fans most of the match. He even went to the outside to talk to a fan about what he should do next. It was one of the best matches of the night with a lot of believable nearfalls. At the end of the match, when Miz couldn't put away Kofi, he changed his tone and got serious and started to kick Kofi in the face. All of a sudden, The Shield's music hit and they attacked both Miz and Kingston when Goldust and Cody Rhodes ran in to make the save. Justin Roberts announced it was a no contest something they don't do on TV or even a PPV main event.
(5) WWE tag champs Cody Rhodes & Goldust beat The Shield (Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns) via pinfall to retain the Tag Team Championship. The best match of the night. Shield dominated Goldust for a good ten minutes until he made the hot tag to Cody, who hit a disaster kick to Reigns and a Cross Rhodes on Rollins. Cody and Goldust hugged in the ring and and walked around ringside high-fiving fans.
Justin Roberts plugged John Cena's autographed photo and the program he said there will be an intermission.
(6) Dean Ambrose beat Dolph Ziggler and Damien Sandow in a Triple Threat match to retain the United States Championship. Sandow told the crowd that he was going to become the Face of the WWE when he becomes the U.S. and IC champons. He also made fun of the West Coast even though his character is supposed to be from Palo Alto, Calif. As for the match, Ziggler was double-teamed on by the heels until Sandow turned on Ambrose and then Ziggler got a couple nearfalls on Ambrose. Ziggler threw Sandow to the outside and then Ambrose hit his finisher for the win. After the match, Ziggler was all alone in the ring and then he walked out to applause from the crowd.
Ryback was introduced, but Ryback bullied Justin Roberts and told him to say he was 305 lbs. of all man and he told him to say it like he means it. Santino Marella came out an told Ryback not to pick on a Jewish boy during Hanukkah and he is jacked up on Starbucks an he will beat Ryback even though he is small.
(7) Ryback beat Santino Marella via pinfall. Santino tried for about five minutes to shoulder tackle Ryback and suplex him, but he couldn't. Ryback had Santino beat, but lifted him up before the three. Ryback eventually hit Shell Shock for the win. Afterward, Ryback went to the outside and started to argue with a fan and called the fan a jackass.
(8) World Hvt. champion John Cena beat Alberto Del Rio via pinfall to retain the World Heavyweight Championship Cena got the biggest pop of the night by far and Del Rio might have had the most heat just because he was facing Cena. Del Rio targeted Cena's left arm for most of the match and Cena was driven into the steel steps. The referee was knocked out when Del Rio tapped out to the STF and Cena thought he won. Del Rio then hit Cena with the title and pinned Cena who had his eyes open looking at the ref the entire time which took the drama out of the nearfall completely. Cena eventually gave Del Rio the AA for the victory.
After the match, Cena walked around only part of the ringside area, which disappointed a lot of people.
