www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/tiff-europacorp-nabs-miss-sloane-819615TIFF: EuropaCorp Nabs 'Miss Sloane' With Jessica Chastain FilmNation sold the John Madden drama at TIFF for a reported $17 million. Europacorp has acquired worldwide rights to Jessica Chastain-starrer Miss Sloane, a new drama that was unveiled to buyers at the Toronto Film Festival. Sources pegged the deal at $17 million. John Madden is on board to direct the project, which is being produced by FilmNation Entertainment. Europacorp will also produce the project, which is aiming to shoot in March. The script, by Jonathan Perera, tells of a political fixer with an abused and abusive past who takes on Washington’s well-oiled gun lobby to pass through gun legislation. "The film's subject matter of gun control is an incredibly important issue in today's world," said EuropaCorp CEO Christophe Lambert. Chastain, who was on the red carpet at TIFF on Friday for the world premiere of The Martian, and Madden worked together in The Debt, Madden’s 2010 thriller that also starred Helen Mirren and Tom Wilkinson. Ben Browning will produce for FilmNation and Patrick Chu will be the executive producer. EuropaCorp will fully finance the film and handle worldwide distribution.
