EuropaCorp, Vertigo Team to Adapt Novel 'The Girl in 6E'
Chloe King is on board to pen the script.
EuropaCorp and Vertigo Entertainment are teaming up to adapt The Girl in 6E, the best-selling novel by author Alessandra Torre.
Chloe King is on board to pen the script for the project, which EuropaCorp has picked up.
Vertigo president of production Adam Stone will produce with company principle Roy Lee. Vertigo partner John Powers Middleton will executive produce.
The book centered on a young woman with a traumatic past who, due to a severe and unique form of agoraphobia, makes her living as a web-cam girl right out of her apartment. When she realizes that a client intends to kidnap and harm an innocent child, she finally decides to face the world and her inner demons to try and save the girl’s life.
EuropaCorp president of production Lisa Ellzey will oversee for the studio.
One of Hollywood’s more active production companies, Vertigo, which is in development on projects ranging from Minecraft to Stephen King’s It, was behind the Liam Neeson action thriller Run All Night. It is in production on Sleepless Night, a remake of a French action thriller that stars Jamie Foxx.
Torre is known for mixing romance, suspense and sexuality in her work. To research 6E, she spent time as an actual web-cam girl. Torre has co-hosted Dirty Sexy Funny with Jenny McCarthy and is the Bedroom Blogger for Cosmopolitan.com.
King is a veteran of tackling the dark corridors of women’s desires, having penned episodes of Showtime’s Red Shoe Diaries and Fine Line’s Poison Ivy 2. Her latest thriller, Inconceivable, is in development at Emmett/Furla.
King is repped by APA, Untitled Entertainment Skrzyniarz & Mallean. Torre is repped by APA and Don Congdon Associates.
