variety.com/2015/film/news/kurt-cobain-documentary-re-release-1201536879/Kurt Cobain Documentary Set for Re-Release in August Abramorama will re-release Brett Morgen’s documentary “Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck” in the U.S. on Aug. 7, four months after its initial U.S. run. The film about the Nirvana frontman premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and grossed $140,208 at three locations on April 24-26. It aired on HBO on May 4. Morgen directed and produced “Montage of Heck” from his own script. He began work on it in 2007 when Cobain’s widow Courtney Love approached him with the idea. The documentary includes footage from Nirvana performances as well as unreleased home movies, recordings, artwork, photography and journal excerpts. HBO Documentary Films and Universal Pictures International Entertainment Content Group are the co-producers. Frances Bean Cobain, Cobain’s daughter, is an executive producer. “Montage of Heck” will be shown at the IFC Center in New York and ArcLight Cinemas.
