deadline.com/2015/06/showtime-first-premiumervice-hulu-1201452266/CBS was the only Big 4 network that didn’t join the Hulu joint venture. But that hasn’t stopped the company from letting the streaming service offer its new Showtime stand-alone online package. The 9 million subscribers who pay $7.99 a month for Hulu will be able to add Showtime for $8.99 a month when it launches in early July — ahead of the July 12 premieres of Ray Donovan and Masters Of Sex. The agreement announced today makes Showtime the first premium service on Hulu. It’s also available through Apple TV, Roku, and Sony PlayStation Vue. “Hulu is an important launch partner for Showtime as we continue to expand our service across new platforms and distributors, reaching new consumers wherever a broadband connection is available,” Showtime Networks CEO Matthew Blank says. Subscribers will be able to access Showtime through the Hulu app. It’s available on a wide range of devices including those powered by Android and iOS, Xbox One, Nintendo, Wii, Roku, PlayStation 3 and 4, Amazon Fire, and Google’s Chromecast. “We are always looking to give our subscribers access to the best content available,” Hulu CEO Mike Hopkins says. “The robust slate of Showtime original programming, movies, and specials together with Hulu’s strength in current season programming, library acquisitions and original programming makes a powerful combination.”
