variety.com/2015/film/asia/fortissimo-ants-on-a-shrimp-documentary-1201490760/Fortissimo Films has added to its growing collection of food-themed documentaries by picking up rights to “Ants on a Shrimp.” The film follows globally renown chef Rene Redzepi as he relocates his restaurant Noma from Copenhagen to Japan. It tracks possibly the biggest challenge of Redzepi’s career as he tries to apply his philosophy of “time and place on a plate” and using only local ingredients in an entirely foreign landscape. That requires his team to use ingredients that that they have not seen or worked with before to create a 14-course menu. The picture is directed by Maurice Dekkers and is currently in post-production. It is anticipated that the completed film will have a high-profile festival premiere later this year. Fortissimo, which has all rights outside the Benelux region, will begin pre-sales in Cannes. Production is by the Netherlands-based BlazHoffski/Dahl TV, a Warner Bros. company. “’Ants on a Shrimp’ is a once-in-a-lifetime exploration of creativity and inspiration and a journey of discovery into the people and places, sights and sounds, tastes and flavors of one of the world’s most amazing food cultures,” said Fortissimo Films’ managing director, Nelleke Driessen. The company has handled a large menu of foodie films in recent years. These include “Jiro Dreams of Sushi,” “Supersize Me,” “Food Inc.,” “Sergio Herman: F***Ing Perfect,” and“Foodies.” It also has the upcoming “Kampai! For the Love of Sake.”
