MGM is remaking the 1989 Patrick Swayze film Road House and has tapped Rob Cohen to direct it.The original told the story of a tough but soft spoken bouncer who takes a job in a small town bar only to run afoul of a corrupt business man who has a stranglehold on the townfolk. The movie was one of Swayze’s biggest hits and was part of his ascent to stardom. (Ghost, released in 1990, was his next movie.)MGM is working with a script by Michael Stokes.Cohen is best known for directing the first of The Fast & The Furious films as well as XXX.He last directed the Tyler Perry bomb Alex Cross and is now shooting Jason Blum’s latest production, The Boy Next Door, which stars Jennifer Lopez as a psychotic MILF.
