variety.com/2015/film/news/before-i-wake-release-date-september-1201468770/‘Before I Wake’ Release Date Pushed Back to September “Before I Wake” will arise on Sept. 25, 2015, after Relativity Studios has opted to move the horror film out of its early summer release date. In its new slot, “Before I Wake” will face off against “Hotel Transylvania 2″ and “The Intern,” a Nancy Meyers comedy with Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. It was originally slated to premiere on May 8, a date on which it would have faced competition from “Hot Pursuit,” a buddy comedy starring Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara, as well as the second week of “The Avengers: Age of Ultron.” “Before I Wake” stars Thomas Jane and Kate Bosworth and centers on an orphan child’s ability to manipulate reality with his dreams. Relativity is moving the picture because it believes that horror and thriller films tend to perform well in the fall, according to a source close to the studio. It also has a busy summer, with raunchy comedy “The Bronze” launching on July 10 and “Masterminds,” a heist comedy with Zach Galifianakis and Owen Wilson, hitting theaters on Aug. 7. Moving the picture will allow the studio to focus more attention on each film, the source said. However, moving “Before I Wake” means the studio is exploring new dates for “The Disappointments Room,” which is currently also slated for Sept. 25. That horror-thriller stars Kate Beckinsale and Lucas Till, but it’s not clear when it will debut.
