Broad Green Acquires ‘The Dark Horse’ And Sets First Slate
Upstart Broad Green has acquired the James Napier Robertson-directed The Dark Horse, a fact-based drama about chess champ Genesis Potini, for its first slate. It has yet to date that film or the three Terrence Malick titles it acquired or the Sarah Silverman Sundance pic I Smile Back but has slotted a bunch of others:
Eden, June 19: Mia Hansen-directed pic about an affecting trip into the ’90s Parisian electronic dance movement experienced through the eyes of DJ groups Cheers and Daft Punk who, together with their friends, plunge into the ephemeral nightlife of sex, drugs and endless music.
10,000KM, July 10: One couple, one year apart and two distant cities: Los Angeles and Barcelona. From award-winning director Carlos Marques-Marcet comes a love story about the challenges of a long-distance relationship and the role of technology in fighting to keep a romance alive.
Learning To Drive, August 21: Patricia Clarkson and Ben Kingsley star in comedy about two seeming opposites at a crossroads.
A Walk In The Woods, September 2: Robert Redford and Nick Nolte star as two old friends who, instead of settling into their sunset years, decide to hike the 2,000-plus miles of the Appalachian Trail. Ken Kwapis directed the adaptation of the Bill Bryson memoir.
Break Point, September 4: Jeremy Sisto and David Walton play estranged brothers who reunite to make an improbable run at a grand slam tennis tournament. J.K. Simmons also stars.
99 Homes, September 25: Single father played by Andrew Garfield is evicted by a ruthless bizman (Michael Shannon) and goes to work for him evicting others.
