The studio had acquired domestic rights to the film, which is now without a date, last summer. Sean McNamara directed the medieval pic with William Hurt, Benjamin Walker, Kaya Scodelario, Pablo Schreiber and Fan Bingbing also starring. In the film, Brosnan portrays King Louis XIV and his quest for immortality, which leads him to capture and steal the life force of a mermaid. His plans are complicated by his daughter, who befriends the creature and defies the most powerful monarch on earth. Paramount has also set faith-based drama “Same Kind of Different as Me” for an April 29, 2016, opening. Greg Kinnear, Djimon Hounsou, Renee Zellweger and Jon Voight star. “Same Kind of Different as Me” is based on the book by Denver Moore, Lynn Vincent and Ron Hall. Michael Carney makes his feature directorial debut. Disruption’s Mary Parent and Cale Boyter are producing.
