Gale Anne Hurd Lands USA Pilot Order for Henry Bromell, Blake Masters Drama
USA Network has given a pilot order to the dream-centric drama “Falling Water,” co-written by the late Henry Bromell and Blake Masters for Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Entertainment and Universal Cable Prods.
Project revolves around three strangers who realize they are dreaming separate parts of the same dream that has big implications for each of their lives. Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is on board to direct and exec produce the pilot with Hurd and Masters. Bromell will also have an EP credit.
“People have always been fascinated by the subconscious and ‘Falling Water’ explores that topic in very unique and unexpected ways,” said Jackie de Crinis, USA’s exec VP of original series. “In this story, the immensely talented and prolific storytellers, Blake and Henry, have created an innovative thriller and compelling vehicle to bring the subject of dreams to television.”
Bromell was a respected TV and film scribe who died unexpectedly in March 2013 at the age of 65 while working on “Homeland.” He had worked with Masters previously on the AMC drama “Rubicon” and Showtime’s “Brotherhood.”
The “Falling Water” pilot order is part of USA’s ramp-up of development activity to feed a growing slate of original drama series. The cabler’s 2015 series slate includes the newly launched “Dig,” plus upcoming dramas “Colony,” “Complications” and “Mr. Robot.”
USA is expected to order at least one more drama pilot this year. It also has the telenovela-inspired “Queen of the South” pilot completed and awaiting word on a series pickup.
