Captain’s Comic Expo, coming up this weekend in Charleston, South Carolina, is a locally owned comic con that has been going on for seven years now and has expanded from one day to two. “We want Captain’s Comic Expo to be a great place to pick up a graphic novel or toy, grab a selfie with R2-D2, or simply enjoy an afternoon with the family. We are thrilled to share our love of comic culture with Charleston,” said organizer Mike Campbell.

Captain’s Comic Expo (CCE) is Charleston’s premier comic book and pop culture event. Now in its seventh year, the expo has grown into a full weekend of fun, including more than 100 tables of comic books and toys for sale, costuming, a charity art auction and much more. CCE will feature a number of artists including Georges Jeanty, artist for hit titles such as “Deadpool,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and more.
Captain’s Comic Expo is Saturday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, March 8, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Omar Shriner’s Temple at Patriots Point. The event is $10 per day or $15 for the weekend with VIP packages available. Tickets are available now at Captain’s Comics and Toys in West Ashley, online via www.captainscomicexpo.com or at the door for the event. Kids under 10 are free with paid adult.
As a locally operated, family-friendly event, Captain’s Comic Expo has a passion for giving back to the community. The expo is partnering with Lowcountry Orphan Relief (LOR) to help raise money for displaced children in the Charleston area. Costuming groups including the 501st Star Wars Garrison and the S.C. Ghostbusters will be on hand to take photos with guests with an appreciated donation to LOR. In addition, Saturday afternoon will feature a live art auction with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting LOR.

Captain’s Comic Expo is presented by Captain’s Comics and Toys, Charleston’s No. 1-voted comic book store for seven years running. CCE is an annual comic book and toy convention that celebrates comic book and pop culture in the Lowcountry.
