This comes after the Sylvain Neuvel novel adaptation The Themis Files landed David Keopp to write the script. Bratman is producing that with Matt Tolmach. The first look deal was made by production presidents Michael DeLuca and Hannah Minghella. They called Bratman “an incredibly skilled producer, capable of the best work on many different kinds of films. We’re thrilled that we’ll be keeping him in-house as he continues to work on some of our most important development projects.” Aside from The Themis Files, Bratman is percolating an adaptation of World War Z author Max Brooks’ The Harlem Hellfighters, producing with Overbrook Entertainment; the Scott McCloud graphic novel The Sculptor, which he’s producing with Scott Rudin; an adaptation of the Jeff Lemire/Dustin Nguyen graphic novel Descender; and The Black Count, based on Tom Reiss’ bestselling biography of General Alex Dumas, the father of Alexandre Dumas, the author of The Count Of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers, with John Legend’s Get Lifted Productions and Cary Fukunaga attached to adapt and direct. Bratman, repped by CAA and Gregory Slewett, worked as an exec for De Luca for over a decade, when De Luca was putting together projects as producer and before he became production president.
