The studio has optioned the life rights for siblings Alli Webb and Michael Landau, co-founders of Drybar, and set up the project with Karen Rosenfelt, whose producing credits include the “Twilight” franchise and “The Devil Wears Prada.” Webb and Landau are exec producing. The coming-of-age story set in the high-end salon world follows a young woman who, with no business experience and the help of her brother, defied everyone’s expectations to create the DryBar franchise. Webb founded Drybar in 2010 after spending 15 years as a professional stylist. She had attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and began her career in fashion in New York City in the early ’90s working for designer Nicole Miller. She left fashion retailing in 1996 to pursue her true passion of hairstyling. Landau is the co-founder and executive chairman of Drybar. The first Drybar location opened in Los Angeles in February 2010, and the company has expanded since then to 40 locations throughout California, Arizona, Massachusetts, Texas, New York, Illinois, Georgia and Washington, D.C. Senior VP of production Kristin Lowe and creative executive Chloe Yellin will oversee on behalf of Universal. Webb and Landau are repped by ICM Partners.
