Entertainment One is uniting its English- and French-Canada film operations with the appointment of Patrick Roy as president of eOne Films Canada & Les Films Seville, the company’s global film group president Steve Bertram announced today.
Roy joined eOne in 2013 after eOne acquired Alliance Films, where Roy served as Alliance’s Vivafilm president to head its Quebec film operations biz, including the province’s top film distributor Les Films Seville. In 2014, Roy and eOne’s international film group launched Seville Intl,. a sales division devoted to distributing local titles to the global market.
In his new role, Roy will work more closely with the company’s production and global distribution arms. He will lead the Toronto and Montreal teams from his current Quebec base.
“Patrick has a great track record of success as well as the expertise to lead eOne’s talented Canadian team as our business moves into the future,” said Bertram, the former DreamWorks exec who joined eOne last September. “He brings great filmmaker relationships as well as a keen understanding of eOne’s global film strategy, our international business and our wide network of partners.”
The company’s English- and French-language slate includes domestic productions, international titles and films from its output partnerships with Lionsgate/Summit, TWC, Relativity, CBS Films and others.
Bryan Gliserman, the outgoing president of eOne Films Canada, has entered a first-look deal with eOne for future projects.
“As Bryan moves on to pursue this next phase of his career, we are pleased to continue our relationship,” Bertram said. “We thank him for his leadership, passion and commitment through a transformative time for our business and our industry.”
