Entertainment One and recording artists Cimorelli have partnered in a multiyear output deal to create and distribute original content in all filmed entertainment media.
The partnership is aimed at moving the digital success that Cimorelli — six singing sisters from Malibu — have already achieved into traditional media including TV and film.
Cimorelli has attracted over 700 million views and 3 million subscribers on YouTube including music videos, vlogs of their day-to-day lives, DIY fashion and make-up tutorials, and “behind-the-scene” featurettes.
Cimorelli’s YouTube channel will remain with the AwesomenessTV network. The sisters are also signed with Universal Music Group and recently co-headlined the North American Digifest tour and the Coca Cola Music Experience concert in Madrid.
Tuesday’s announcement said the new partnership already has a number of scripted and non-scripted projects in development, which eOne will produce and handle worldwide distribution.
“With nearly a billion views and an enormous fanbase around the world, the Cimorelli sisters have created a strong wholesome brand for themselves in the digital youth programming space,” said John Morayniss, CEO of eOne Television. “Bringing our expertise in film and television, eOne is dedicated to partnerships with top creative talent and to producing first-rate programming for all platforms.”
The oldest sister Christina founded the group in 2007. Her sisters are Katherine, Lisa, Amy, Lauren and Dani.
Cimorelli mostly performs songs a capella.
The deal was brokered by Jesse Albert for eOne with Tony Novia for Cimorelli, who will both serve as executive producers on all projects that fall under the partnership along with Lynne Cimorelli.
