spinoff.comicbookresources.com/2014/11/20/warner-bros-finds-writer-for-dragonriders-of-pern/Warner Bros. has hired Sarah Cornwell to pen Dragonriders of Pern, its adaptation of Anne McCaffrey’s sci-fi novels, Heat Vision reports. Cornwell, whose debut novel What I Had Before You was released in January, is also working with David Goyer on a rewrite of The Forest and adapting Demon Camp for Montecito Pictures. Dragonriders of Pern series was optioned by Warner Bros. earlier this year. The series consists of 22 installments published between 1968 and 2012. Since 2003, McCaffrey has co-authored the series with her son Todd. The first film will adapt Dragonflight, the debut novel set on the planet Pern that follows a telepath named Lessa. The young girl survives an assassination attempt on her family and takes refuge as a worker in the ruler’s house before embarking on a quest to reignite the dragon-riding tradition.
