Chloe Grace Moretz, Nicholas Hoult, Christina Hendricks, Tye Sheridan and Corey Stoll also star. The film was directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner from his adaptation. Theron plays a survivor of the brutal killing of her family as a child who’s forced to confront the events of that day by a secret society obsessed with solving crimes. Producers are Cathy Schulman, Matthew Rhodes, Azim Bolkiah, Matt Jackson, Beth Kono, A.J. Dix, Charlize Theron and Stephane Marsil. Executive producers include Jeff Rice, Jose Levy, Matthias Ehrenberg, Nigel Sinclair, Guy East, Tobin Armbrust, Jillian Longnecker, Ginger Sledge and Peter Safran. “Dark Places” is presented by Exclusive Media. Production companies are Denver & Delilah Films, Hugo Productions, and Mandalay Pictures production. A24 negotiated rights for the film with WME Global and announced the deal on the third day of AFM. A24 and DirecTV have also partnered on Atom Egoyan’s “Captive,” starring Ryan Reynolds, and Julius Avery’s directorial debut “Son of a Gun,” starring Ewan Macgregor and Brenton Thwaites.

As part of a deal with A24 that Deadline broke in November, the satcaster is offering the film exclusively for the next seven weeks. Gilles Paquet-Brenner adapted and directed the pic, which is based on Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn’s book. It centers on Libby Day (Theron), the sole survivor of a violent home invasion. She has lived with the knowledge that her testimony as a 7-year-old sentenced her brother (Corey Stoll) to life in prison for the horrific crime. Twenty-five years later, she is persuaded to re-examine the events. Nicholas Hoult, Chlöe Grace Moretz, Christina Hendricks and Tye Sheridan co-star. The Dark Places deal is the latest in the A24-DirecTV partnership announced in 2013 to release films exclusively on the satellite TV giant before they hit theaters. Other titles from the pact have included Enemy, Life After Beth, Revenge Of The Green Dragons,, The Captive, Son Of A Gun, Cut Bank, Slow West and Barely Lethal.
