variety.com/2014/film/news/afm-westend-steers-sales-for-learning-to-drive-exclusive-1201349074/AFM: WestEnd Steers Sales for ‘Learning to Drive’ WestEnd has sold Isabel Coixet’s “Learning to Drive,” which stars Ben Kingsley and Patricia Clarkson, to buyers from several major territories. The romantic drama, which played at Toronto, has been sold to Germany (Koch Media), Australia (Madman), Spain (A Contracorriente), Japan (Longride), Middle East (Front Row),Switzerland (Praesens) and Jaguar for airline rights. Broad Green Pictures is producing and will distribute the film in the U.S., with a minimum P&A spend of $4 million, no later than September. Kingsley plays driving instructor and Clarkson a Manhattan writer, both of whom are experiencing marriage troubles and whose lives change when they meet over driving lessons. The film is screening Friday and Monday at the AFM. Coixet’s pics include Berlin pic “My Life Without Me,” Venice player “The Secret Life of Words” and Cannes’ entry “Map of the Sounds of Tokyo.” Another WestEnd pic, Stephen Herek’s “The Great Gilly Hopkins,” will have its world premiere during the market. WestEnd’s AFM lineup also includes Jeremy Saulnier’s “Green Room,” Kieran Darcy-Smith’s “By Way of Helena,” starring Woody Harrelson and Liam Hemsworth, and Fernando Leon de Aranoa’s “A Perfect Day,” starring Benicio Del Toro, Tim Robbins and Olga Kurylenko.
