Mark Duplass, Olivia Wilde, Evan Peters (“American Horror Story”) and Donald Glover (“Community”) star in the film, set for a Feb. 20 release. Blumhouse Productions is home to franchises such as “Paranormal Activity,” “The Purge,” “Insidious” and “Sinister” along with “Ouija,” which has won at the U.S. box office on back-to-back weekends. It’s the second Blumhouse project to land at Relativity, which bought “Oculus” at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival and saw it become the highest grossing movie out of Toronto since 2010, with $40.6 million worldwide. “Lazarus” follows a group of medical students who discover a way to bring dead patients back to life. David Gelb (“Jiro Dreams of Sushi”) directed the film from a script by Luke Dawson and Jeremy Slater. Producers are Jason Blum, Cody Zwieg, Matt Kaplan and Jimmy Miller. Luke Dawson and Gloria Fan serve as executive producers. Lionsgate is handling international distribution.

Relativity Studios has tweaked the title of horror pic Lazarus. It’s now titled The Lazarus Effect and will be released on February 27, a week later than its initial date of February 20. It will now square off against Warner Bros’ comedy Focus and Open Road Films’ drama Little Boy and avoid comedy Hot Tub Time Machine 2 and sports drama MacFarland USA. The Lazarus Effect follows a group of medical students who discover a way to bring dead patients back to life. Mark Duplass, Olivia Wilde, Evan Peters, and Donald Glover star.
