variety.com/2014/film/news/david-heymans-methusaleh-1201335883/David Heyman’s ‘Methuselah’ Finds Writer With biblical characters in high demand, Warner Bros. and producer David Heyman are revving up the gears on a property that fits into that realm. Zach Dean, scribe of the blacklist script “Beast,” has been tapped to pen the script to “Methuselah.” Based on the character from the Bible, the story follows a man who ages slowly and has used his time to develop an incredible set of survival skills. Heyman will produce through his Heyday pictures. Jeff Clifford and John Fischer will oversee for Heyday with Drew Crevello and Jon Gonda overseeing for the studio. Warners has wanted to get this off the ground for sometime with actors like Will Smith and Tom Cruise circling at one point or another. Given all the recent interest around characters from the Bible like Paramount’s “Noah” and the upcoming “Exodus: Gods and Kings” its no surprise WB sees this as something that could gain momentum given the right script. Besides, “Beast,” Dean also sold the pitch “The Lightkeepers” to Working Title Films with Academy Award winner Stephen Gaghan attached to direct and his spec “Layover,” which is set up at Endgame with Thunder Road producing. He is repped by WME, Madhouse Entertainment and attorney Andrew Hurwitz.
