www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/constantin-films-dark-horse-team-742893Constantin Films and Dark Horse Team Up to Adapt 'Polar' Constantin Films has pre-emptively picked up Polar: Came From the Cold, Dark Horse Entertainment’s spy thriller graphic novel by Victor Santos. Jayson Rothwell wrote the script for the project, which sees Constantin’s Robert Kulzer producing with Jeremy Bolt (the Resident Evil movies) along with Dark Horse’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg. In an unorthodox manner, Rothwell was such a fan of the graphic novel that he wrote the script on spec, bringing it to Dark Horse. Told in a stark stylized manner, the graphic novel’s story centered on Black Kaiser, a master assassin forced out of retirement when he finds himself the target of a motley crew of new generation hitmen. According to the producers, “Kaiser’s gun-blazing and bloody universe is at odds with the doting and protective relationship he has with the child of one of his former marks. Faced with the ultimate battle for survival, Kaiser must choose between saving his life and saving his soul.” Constantin and Dark Horse are high on the project and are already aiming for a spring 2015 shoot. A search for directors is underway. Rothwell is worked on Universal and Legendary’s supernatural action movie, Spectral, and has an untitled heist thriller set up at Thunder Road and Warner Bros. He is repped by WME.
