variety.com/2014/scene/news/kristen-wiig-bill-hader-celebrate-the-skeleton-twins-premiere-1201303410/Wednesday night’s West Coast premiere of Lionsgate-Roadside’s drama “The Skeleton Twins” at the Arclight evoked multiple memories of sibling strangeness. Director Craig Johnson allowed during the afterparty at the Argyle Hollywood that the onscreen combination of “Saturday Night Live” alums Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader as estranged twins made him think of growing up with his sister in Bellingham, Wash. Johnson said that he and co-writer Mark Heyman first came up with the idea for the movie about a decade ago when both were film students at NYU. “We were having coffee at the Starbucks at Union Square so I guess that all good things start at Starbucks,” he mused. “Maybe that’s what I should call my next movie.” The film debuted at Sundance where it won the Waldo Salt screenwriting award. Wiig admitted on the red carpet that her always-calm demeanor masked her insecurity about acting. Also attending the premiere were producers Mark and Jay Duplass, Trey Parker, Zooey Deschanel and Ty Burrell. The premiere also drew picketing from two dozen supporters of the Arclight projectionists, who are seeking a salary hike through Local 33 of the Intl. Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employess. It was the first such demonstration but won’t be the last, according to the local’s attorney, Robert Cantore. “We will be at every major premiere in Hollywood during the awards season,” he promised.
