The new version of the Griswolds’ “Vacation” adventures will follow grown-up son (Helms), who has his own family misadventures on the road. David Dobkin is producing through his David Dobkin Prods along with Chris Bender. Jeff Kleeman and Marc Fischer are exec producing. Hemsworth will play Audrey’s husband, Stone Crandall and up and coming anchorman, in the pic. Day will play a river raft touring guide. He is repped by CAA, ROAR and Morissey Management. Day is repped by WME and 3 Arts. He can be seen next in “Horrible Bosses 2.”

variety.com/2014/film/news/vacation-reboot-moves-to-october-2015-1201322884/‘Vacation’ Reboot Moves to October 2015 The Griswolds are returning a little sooner than expected. New Line Cinema will move up “Vacation,” the reboot of the venerable “National Lampoon’s Vacation” film series, from Nov. 13, 2015 to Oct. 9, 2015. In its new slot, the comedy will face off against the Halle Berry thriller “Kidnap” and Disney’s live-action version of “The Jungle Book.” In its old release date, “Vacation” would have been up against another blast from the ’80s — a fresh version of “Friday the 13th.” It also now avoids being sandwiched between the debuts of the 24th James Bond film and the final installment in “The Hunger Games” series. “Vacation” stars Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Leslie Mann, Chris Hemsworth and brings back original stars Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo. It centers on Clark Griswold’s son Rusty and his own leisure-time headaches. Longtime collaborators Jonathan M. Goldstein and John Francis Daley (“Horrible Bosses”) will write and direct the film.
