Alternate Dimensions Games & Collectibles, owned by the father-son duo of Kevin and Jason Spencer, isn’t fully operational yet, but it’s running short hours after a soft opening. The store is open from 2 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays as the Spencers finish work on the store and bring in more merchandise, soon to include comics. The Spencers plan longer hours and game-night events soon. Kevin Spencer says he has a retail background and Jason Spencer has a background working at gaming stores. “This is our first venture together,” he says. The Spencers are leasing 1,000 square feet from Rosemary Cauley at 4355 S. Broadway. He says that although Wichita has several other options for merchandise related to games like Shadowrun, Dungeons and Dragons and Magic: The Gathering, south-side retailers are limited.
