WWE continues to go back and forth on Daniel Bryan vs. Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam and word now is that it's almost a sure thing that they will not main event the pay-per-view after all.
It's said that the top of the SummerSlam card is now complete and Bryan is still on the card in one of the main events but it's not a lock yet that he will be ready by then. Bryan is expected back at SummerSlam or Night of Champions in September at this point. Bryan is not being advertised publicly for SummerSlam but is now being advertised for the August 16th WWE live event in San Jose, the night before SummerSlam, and some WWE events the week after SummerSlam.
Regarding plans for Lesnar, the big fall program was going to be Lesnar returning because he wanted the WWE World Heavyweight Title, with the idea that this puts the title over in a bigger way. It's likely that Lesnar will feud with whoever is the champion going into SummerSlam. This could indicate that a top babyface wins the title at Money In the Bank. Unless Bryan returns at Battleground and wins the title back, he wouldn't be facing Lesnar at SummerSlam and WWE officials are going with the idea that Bryan won't be at Battleground.
