variety.com/2014/tv/news/game-of-thrones-season-5-will-visit-dorne-queen-elizabeth-will-visit-belfast-set-1201223412/Although there was plenty of speculation following leaked casting details of several Dornish characters, “Game of Thrones” showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have now confirmed that season five will pay a visit to Dorne. Season five of the hit HBO drama will be filming in Spain so it was fair to deduce that the show would be set partly in Dorne, one of the nine regions of the Seven Kingdoms and the birthplace of Prince Oberyn Martell (Pedro Pascal). “There will be Dorne, and we’re excited about it,” Benioff and Weiss told Entertainment Weekly in a joint email statement. “Who wouldn’t want to hang out in Dorne? They have admirable values and priorities. And have you seen Oberyn’s coat?” The upcoming season will draw inspiration from the fourth and fifth novels in George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” series: “A Feast for Crows” and “A Dance with Dragons.” Oberyn’s Sand Snakes — his illegitimate daughters Obara, Nymeria and Tyene — brother Prince Doran Martell, youngest son Prince Trystane Martell and personal bodyguard Areo Hotah will be among the new characters populating the hottest region of Westeros. Meanwhile, Belfast studios, where the series is primarily filmed, will be graced by royalty as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip will tour the set during their visit to Northern Ireland next week. The official British Monarchy Twitter account tweeted the news this morning.
